Loneliness

Do you feel lonely even when you are surrounded by people?

Unification gives you back the connection with yourself, which is where company begins.

This might sound familiar

Signs that it's happening to you

You are with people and nothing reaches you

You wait for someone to make you feel complete

Being with yourself without noise is hard

What it's about

Unification connects you, and company begins there

Company is not measured in how many people are close: it is measured in how much connection there is. And that connection begins with you. When you live turned outwards, attentive to what is expected of you, the bond with your own depth thins out until it almost disappears, and then no company is ever enough. Unification gives you back that deep place that is already in you: it doesn't ask you to leave anyone or to find new people. When you are connected with yourself, you stop waiting for someone to complete you, and what comes from outside becomes an encounter instead of a rescue.

How Unification supports you

01

You stop for a few minutes and come back to you

No special posture, no absolute silence.

02

You meet your own depth

That place of yours that doesn't depend on who is near.

03

You return to others from another place

No longer looking for what is missing, but to meet them.

A practice to start with

A moment with you, even at a full table

This is a first Unification practice. It doesn't ask you to step away from anyone or to feel anything different: it is a few minutes with you, in the middle of your day as it is.

  1. 1Think of a recent moment when you were with people and felt far away. A meeting, a meal, a conversation that went on without you.
  2. 2Close your eyes, if you are somewhere safe to do so.
  3. 3Gently bring your attention to the area of your heart.
  4. 4Repeat internally: «Thank you love for my human experience in its perfection».
  5. 5Stay there for a few moments, asking nothing of that distance, and then go on with your day.

Questions

What people ask us most

  • Why do I feel lonely when I am surrounded by people?

Being accompanied and feeling connected are not the same thing, and the body notices it before the mind does. You can be at a full table, talking and laughing, and feel that none of it reaches you inside. It usually happens when the connection with yourself has drifted away: when the whole day goes into attending to what others need, to how you are seen, to what you should say, and there is almost no moment when you are simply with yourself. From there people can be close and still not be enough. Unification works exactly at that point: it doesn't fill your calendar with people, it gives you back the connection with your own depth, that place of yours that doesn't depend on who is beside you. And when that place is inhabited again, company feels different, because you are no longer asking it to complete you.

  • Does this mean I need to be alone to feel better?

No, this is not about moving away from anyone. Unification doesn't ask for solitude or for stepping out of the world: it asks for a few minutes with yourself, and that fits into your life exactly as it is, with your family, your work and your friends. What changes is not how many people you have around, but the place you are in when you are with them. When you arrive at a gathering empty inside, you wait for the other person to fill you, and that wait is almost never met: that is why the table can be full while the loneliness grows. When you arrive connected with yourself, the same gathering becomes something else, because you are not asking it to save you. Many people notice something simple after a while: they see the same people and feel less alone. It is not a promise or a cure, it is a way of coming back to yourself.

  • Can I stop waiting for someone to complete me?

Yes, and letting go of that waiting doesn't come from willpower: it eases when you have something to lean on inside. Waiting for someone to arrive and complete you is deeply human, and it usually starts early, when we learned that our worth came from outside. The problem is not wanting company, it is that all the company rests on one person who cannot give you what only you can give yourself. Unification works right there, in the connection with your own depth: a few minutes a day, no special posture and no absolute silence, giving you back the feeling of being with yourself. Over time the waiting tends to loosen on its own. Not because you decide that you no longer need anyone, but because you stop asking others to fill a place that was always yours. And from there relationships tend to breathe better, because no one is carrying an impossible task.
