What it's about
Fear does its job: it offers you the familiar place, the one that doesn't hurt, the one you already know how it feels. The problem is the price. When fear chooses, you pick what feels safe instead of what you want, and conversations, trips and decisions that matter to you slowly stay outside. The practice doesn't ask you for courage: it gives you a steady place inside so fear no longer has the last word. Your fear is not bigger than your power.
A few minutes, no special posture, no absolute silence.
You start telling your voice from the voice of fear.
One small step, chosen by you and not by fear.

Questions
Yes, and that is usually how it happens. Fear doesn't switch off with a button, and waiting for it to disappear can turn into a very long wait. What changes with the practice is not that fear goes away: what changes is who decides. When fear has the volume up, it always picks the option that feels safe, even when it is the one that takes you furthest from what you want. When you turn that volume down, fear is still there, still giving its opinion, but it no longer has the last word. You choose again from a steadier place, and from there the same decision looks different: not easier, but more yours. Many people discover that what stopped them was never only the real risk, but also the film they played before trying.
It doesn't promise to remove it, and it would be strange if it did: fear has a function and sometimes it genuinely protects you. What the practice offers is a different relationship with it. Today fear arrives and takes up all the space; when you have a steady place inside, it still arrives, but it fits, you can look at it and carry on with your day. It takes a few minutes, no special posture and no absolute silence, and you can do it in the car, before walking into a meeting or at night. Over time many people notice something simple: they do the thing they had been avoiding for months. Not because they suddenly feel brave, but because fear stopped being the only voice they could hear inside. None of this is a cure or a promise: it is a tool for coming back to yourself.
Almost always, what moves something that has been waiting for months is the smallest step. When something has been waiting for months, it is the short call, the message you never sent, the question you feel shy about asking. It is worth looking at what you would do if you felt no fear, because that is the life fear has been postponing in the name of protecting you: a conversation, a trip, a change of job, saying no. Fear promises to protect you and in the attempt it takes you away from your own power: it offers a familiar place in exchange for what you want. This is not about forcing yourself into something you are not ready for, or demanding courage from yourself. It is about that answer no longer living only in your head. Often one step is enough for the rest to become possible, because your fear is not bigger than your power.
